AI Writing Tools I'm Using...
I often get asked what AI Writing tools I use, as there are literally tons out there.
I've tried most (not all) of them, but here I'll list my top 3 "go to" tools for you.
NOTE: Most "online" services are expensive as they basically charge you a premium on top for their API model usage. You'll also only get a set amount of articles you can generate per month. I prefer to use desktop based software as you pay for the API model usage directly to Open AI (or whatever service you want to use). This means there is no "markup" on your API usage, and allows for unlimited content creation, the only limitation being your budget. A good analogy I've seen here is that you're basically renting the car (the software), and its up to you how much fuel (API access) you want to put into it. You can drive it as far and as often you like.
1) SEO Content Machine
- Price: $27 per month or $127 per year.
- Usage: I use this weekly for most content creation.
- Cost For Content: As low as 0.02 for a 1,500 word article depending on your prompt length.
- Learning Curve: High (you need to know how to custom prompt)
- Bonus: Free fully functional 5 day trial. Just enter your API keys and go nuts.
This might seem an odd pick but it's #1 here because it allows for "raw prompting". That means you enter a keyword term related to the content you want written, input your custom prompt and hit go. It offers the most flexibility in terms of the type of content you want created, how it's formatted, anything special you want to include etc. This is what we use for the Q&A content work flow mentioned above.
The downside here is that you need to be pretty good at custom prompting to get exactly what you want (the Q&A content custom prompt is almost 2 pages long as an example). Of course, life's heading in the custom prompting direction anyway, so why not start learning how. You do get a few "custom prompt templates" with the software but they're pretty basic.
Image generation (AI Generated / Scrapping / Open Source) features are limited (compared to the next tool), and can be slightly confusing but they might be ok for what you need.
Anyway, the free 5 day trial is fully functional without limitations, so give it a look.
NOTE: Ignore their "AI Writing Credits" if you're buying a plan - it's for the "Article Writer" which uses the built in AI model. Use the "Article Creator" instead and plug in your own API keys for whatever model you want to use.
2) ZimmWriter
- Price: $25 per month or $247 per year.
- Usage: I use this weekly for various other content creation types.
- Cost For Content: 0.02 - 0.30+ for a 1,500 word article depending on options you select.
- Learning Curve: High (but there are lots of walk through videos)
I've used this for close to a year now and it's a lot more feature rich than SEO Content Machine. You can create "how to articles", "product reviews", local SEO pages and a whole lot of other stuff. It has more "ready made templates" if you can call them that, but the learning curve is high here (even after a month of using it I was still finding different features).
The only reason this isn't #1 (and really it is equal to #1, I use them both for difference use cases) is because you can't truly "raw prompt" it. What I mean by that is, there is the baked in custom prompting of Matt (the programmer, nice guy) that is always being fed to the AI before (and sometimes after) your own custom instructions. This can mess up the output if you're trying to get creative with slightly different content types, other than the standard selections i.e. you can't do the "Q&A work flow method" correctly using this tool as it currently stands (I spent 2 full weeks trying to hack around the baked in prompting but gave up). That may change.
Image generation (AI Generated / Scrapping / Open Source) features are more extensive and easier to understand than SEO Content Machine. It also has a separate "bulk AI image generation feature". This allows you to enter a list of keywords (1k long I think it is) and generate images for each of them in one click (think article titles as keyword terms). This feature compliments the current lack of options in SEO Content Machine (you can generate bulk images with this particular feature and then use them in SEO Content Machine, but it's not straight forward).
I do highly recommend ZimmWriter. It's updated a lot and I use it weekly. Its probably the leading AI writing desktop software on the market at the moment and has a really active Facebook support group. No one is going to give you their personal custom prompts in there however, trust me, people ask everyday, but they will provide general advice and guidance on using the tool.
3) SEO WRITING
- Price: $79 per month or $708 per year for up to 250 articles per month.
- Usage: The truth is I don't use this anymore but you may wish to (explained below).
- Cost For Content: About $0.30 for a 1,500 word article depending on options you select.
- Learning Curve: Low
- Bonus: 5 free articles to try it out.
I'm mentioning this here if you want the "easy" option. The trade off are the monthly limits on the amount of content you can create and the slightly higher cost. You also don't have the choice to use other AI models (from memory is uses a combination of GPT 3.5 and GPT 4.0 but that might have changed).
It's also not as flexible in terms of "customizing" the content output as much as you might want too. So the downside to that is you're going to be getting the same kind of output in terms of "style" (at least very similar) everyone else is getting. I don't use this anymore, I prefer to make content as unique as possible so it's virtually impossible to know it was AI generated (hence the order of this list). It is however an easy option if that's what you need and is one of the better "online services" out there - there may actually be better alternatives out there now, since I last looked, but this works for an easy option.
NOTE: This will not work for the Q&A method either, by easy option I simply mean for AI article writing in general.
My Q&A Work Flow =
~250 Q&A Content Pieces For ~$10 A Pop.
These SEO rich content pieces (which are essentially "how to articles" but presented in a very unique way) come out at around 1,500 words each. It costs about $0.02 per article (depending on the AI model you use). Create as many as you want.
It's a step by step, do this do that, screenshots etc. includes the 2 page custom prompt I created (and you can customize). It's less than 30 pages. And it's not going to be offered here for long. Most people just don't share this kind of shit...
